I've spent nearly five decades outdoors. I grew up working a shrimp boat, and my family had me camping before I could really remember it, somewhere around three or five years old. That turned into a lifelong habit of hunting and fishing across the country. I've taken whitetail deer, elk, and mule deer, hunted ducks, and gone after alligators, and I've spent about equal time on freshwater and saltwater fishing, including fly fishing trips through the Northeast. I've also spent weeks at a stretch remote camping in the backcountry. When I write about bushcraft gear, it's from the perspective of someone who's actually had to depend on it, not just read the spec sheet.
